As many of you will have heard, in an unprecedented peacetime measure, public worship has been suspended to try to control the spread of Cornovirus.
This means, that all services, groups and activities at St James and the St Barnabas Centre will cease immediately. Home groups will also cease.
You will find information on the attached letter about how this will be managed and how we can continue to worship and pray together in different ways.
It is a long letter! But please do read it through and keep it for future reference. The letter covers things such as:
- Church Services
- Special information for Mothering Sunday
- Day of Prayer
- Home Groups, other groups and events
- Helping others and what to do if you need help
- Our buildings
- Our community & resources to use at home
- A useful prayer
- Useful contact details
We have also attached ‘Five Actions We Can All Take’ from the Diocese of St Albans. This is a helpful document. With reference to point 4, “Clergy, Readers and Lay Leaders of Worship can still be in church at the usual time each Sunday” we cannot guarantee that this will happen initially because, as you know, we have no clergy and our readers are very restricted in what they can do at the moment.
As we know, advice changes very rapidly at the moment. We will keep you updated as we hear more news. The office staff will continue to send out information electronically and hard copies of notices etc will be available in the Church and also in a box outside the Barn.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need any help.
With many blessings, Sue and Pippa, Churchwardens
